Aberdeen, the Granite City

As mentioned in the previous post, the buildings in Aberdeen are solid and functional and even in their own ways attractive, yet the uniformity of the grey granite used to build everything from cathedrals to cottages combines to give a dreariness to the city.

None of the buildings is adorned by window boxes or different coloured paints. In fact the only ‘adornment’ favoured would seem to be satellite dishes - which are grey to blend with granite.

I plan to visit this place next week - the offices of SCARF (Save Costs and Reduce Fuel)

The most colourful and alive places are the cemeteries!
